SUMMARY: This is the new quartz-powered version of our military-inspired A12 Dirty Dozen field watch, which was first introduced into the Vaer lineup in 2019.
The watch is powered by a reliable Japanese quartz movement and protected by a flat sapphire crystal—delivering maintenance-free performance in the harshest conditions.
With a screwdown crown, 100 meters of water resistance, and interchangeable straps (including our waterproof quick-change options), this is a true all-terrain timepiece—ready for everything.
As an S5 model, this watch is part of our affordable Standard Issue collection, distinguished by its ocean-ready functionality, low-profile case design, ultra-accurate quartz movement, and entry-level price point.
WHO IS THIS WATCH FOR? We recommend the S5 for those seeking a dependable tool watch that can also be dressed up for more formal occasions. The "set-it-and-forget-it" nature of quartz makes it the perfect fit for an everyday wearer, and the 36mm case sizing is great option for those with smaller wrists, or who prefer a more vintage on-wrist presence reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s.
INSPIRATION: In building the S5 Dirty Dozen, our goal is to return this iconic military field watch to its original use case: a rugged, accurate ocean-proof timekeeper. If quartz technology had existed in 1939 when the original models were being commissioned, it definitely would have been the choice of military commanders. If you’ve always appreciated the design and story of the Dirty Dozen, but prefer the functional superiority of quartz, we think that this watch delivers the perfect all-in-one solution.
